Twilight Time

The CMC are at Twilight's to learn new skills, which makes way more sense than trying random stuff on their own. Twilight's got a poster on her wall detailing the mysterious box. It looks like she's been examining it. Good to know it hasn't been forgotten.

Sweetie Belle can do magic! Sort of. At least, she's trying to learn.

Scootaloo is trying to learn mechanical stuff, like how to assemble a unicycle.

Cute face, activate!

And Applebloom is learning potion making. None of them are too good at anything yet, though.

It's Pipsqueak! Is that kid half cow, or something? Oh, and Applebloom? The ball bounced in your square. You're out.

They sure use this expression a lot this season.

Diamond Tiara's butler, Randal. Let this be a lesson. Don't give your foals unusual names like "Randal". Instead, stick with normal names, like "Twilight Sparkle", Shining Armor, and Rainbow Dash, otherwise they may get sub-standard destinies. "Oh, boy! I got my cutie mark! It's a feather duster! Yay! Now I can be bossed around by a spoiled brat for the rest of my life!"

Then, like Yoda, Randal goes from barely being able to walk, to bouncing around like Pinkie Pie on a sugar high. Impressive. The Force is strong with this one.

"Apple-tree" Get it? Ha!

Sweetie Belle has a little fantasy about her and the Crusaders becoming really good at the skills they're learning from Twilight which involves using her levitation to do mean things to Diamond Tiara. I wonder if there are any laws about this kind of thing? In our world, that would probably be considered assult.

"Dang it! She's stuck in a feedback loop. We're going to have to do a reboot."

Dr. Hooves with some other pony, but I don't know who.

Colgate and Berry Punch in the background.

Wow. Twilight is a super messy eater. I can't believe Rarity hasn't taught her some better table manners now that she's a princess. And what all is on that burger? Looks like tomatoes, or maybe they're red oninons, lettuce, cheese, ketchup, and hay.

"I eat stuff! Nom!"

They're so cute when they lie. They should lie more often. ;)

Pinkie is the only other of the mane six that we see this episode. At first I thought she was working there, but I think the tray is just to carry her food to her table. "Try the cupcakes! They're extra special!"

Twilight just stuffs entire burgers in her mouth. I guess she's as hungry as, a horse. ;)

When Scootaloo realizes the ponies outside are taking pictures, she does a few poses.

It's like "The Birds", but with ponies. Or maybe it's "Children of the Hay."

My people need me!

Wait. Young ponies with lemons? I thought that was illegal? ;)

Sweetie Belle gets free lemonade. She borrowed the glasses from Rarity. I just know it.

Scootaloo gets her hooves shined. Just how far up do their hooves go? At least she doesn't have a problem with ponies touching her hooves like a certain other pony.

Applebloom gets her bow bedazzled.

I've always wondered how pegasi can walk on clouds, just water vapor, yet they can't walk on liquid water, which is much more dense.

"So, Sweetie Belle. Why aren't you swimming again?"
"The water makes me feel funny."

"What? There was no "P" in your "OOL", so I added some."

"I'm sorry. I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am! Oh, wait. You are that sound. My mistake."

That's a pretty modern scooter, and much better than Scootaloo's.

Applebloom may not have turned the apple into a tree, but she made enough applesause from that one apple to feed 100 ponies. I'd say that's worth something.

The exploding apple blew out every window in the tree, and covered most ponies in applesauce, yet it didn't even touch the books. Some kind of protection charm? I wouldn't be surprised. "Don't worry. Spike can clean this."

Poor Spike. He made all those nachos for nothing, and he has to clean the tree.

"Dear diary, I've succeeded in gaining Twilight's trust. Now it's only a matter of time before vengence is mine. Wait. She won't be reading this, will she?"

One thing I liked about this episode was that it called back to some past episodes, such as The Cuite Pox, where Applebloom makes up a potion. Now she's trying to learn how to do potions the right way. It could come in handy around the farm, too, if Applejack will allow it.

Scootaloo showed some mechanical aptitude when she rigged that float in One Bad Apple. Now she's learning to take things apart and put them back together again.

And Sweetie Belle can finally levitate objects. It's nice to see them growing up a bit. On that note, I think her voice is a bit deeper than it used to be. There are still some of the cute squeaks, but Claire is definitely getting older.

Over all, this episode was cute, but not that memorable. I've heard it compared to a sit-com, and that's kind of how it felt. A good episode, but definitely not on my favorite's list. Also, I think I've seen these outfits somewhere before, but I can't remember where.
